MEMORANDUM
DATE: June 19, 1997
TO: Mike Morrison, City Manager
FROM: Kim Moore-Sykes, Management Assistant
ITEM: Comprehensive Plan Update Status
I.talked with Bill Weber this afternoon regarding the status of the Comprehensive Plan
Update. He indicated that Suzanne is putting the finishing touches on the draft and that
the draft copy will be ready for mailing to the task force members the week of 6/30.
I requested 10 extra copies to be distributed to the remaining Planning Commission
members who are not on the task force, the City Council, you, and me. He said that he
will also be sending copies to the adjacent cities of Columbia Heights, Roseville, New
Brighton and Minneapolis for their comment. They will have 2 - 3 months to comment
on the proposed update.*
After these cities have reviewed the update, it can be sent to the Met Council. But, before
it goes to the Met Council, he felt that the City Council should tentatively approve it.
I will send a letter out to the task force members reminding them of the draft review
scheduled for July 15th at the Planning Commission meeting. Bill Weber indicated this
will be their opportunity to propose revisions.
*The Met Council normally requires that adjacent cities have 6 months to review
Comprehensive Plans and Updates. In speaking with Guy Peterson of the Met Council
and Bill Weber, who also spoke to the Met Council, they are allowing 2 months for review
where the community is completely developed. This is obviously the case with St.
Anthony.
