City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • July 8, 1997 <br /> Page 10 <br /> 1 Faust reported his attendance at the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities breakfast <br /> 2 meeting. The three issues addressed were the Local Government Advisory Council Study, <br /> 3 transportation funding, and dispelling the myth that cities are just another special interest <br /> 4 group. <br /> 5 Enrooth reported he was unable to attend the recent VillageFest meeting as he was out of <br /> 6 town. He stated he will be attending the Middle Mississippi Watershed District meeting on <br /> 7 July 10 and suggested this may be a body who can address the flooding issue. <br /> 8 Marks reported he had toured the entire City of St. Anthony yesterday with City Manager and <br /> 9 the Public Works Director. <br /> 10 B. Mayor. <br /> 11 Mayor Ranallo reported he had attended the recent VillageFest meeting and all was <br /> 12 proceeding well. Councilmembers riding in the parade are required to provide their own <br /> 13 vehicle and sign. <br /> 14 Mayor Ranallo reported he had received a call from Shawn, Salvation Army, requesting <br /> 15 volunteers for a focus group. <br /> 46 Marks stated he had been contacted and had volunteered. Wagner stated he would be happy <br /> 17 to volunteer but had not been contacted. <br /> 18 Mayor Ranallo stated a group of people had met last evening to discuss the group home <br /> 19 which will be located at 3500 Coolidge. He had suggested that they meet with the people <br /> 20 who are purchasing the home and that meeting will take place tomorrow night. <br /> 21 C. City Manager. <br /> 22 Mornson asked if the Council would like him to utilize the same process for applicants of the <br /> 23 Water Task Force as was used for the Parks Task Force. He noted that he had the list of the <br /> 24 persons in attendance this evening and would forward a letter to them. He suggested the City <br /> 25 put a flyer together and go into the neighborhoods to determine who was affected.by the <br /> 26 flooding. Mornson noted that Thursday he and the Public Works Director will be meeting <br /> 27 with WSB. He felt it may be appropriate to include WSB in the Water Task Force process as <br /> 28 they are preparing the water management plan for the City. Mornson recommended that more <br /> 29 than one City Councilmember be included on the Water Task Force as this is a large issue. <br /> 30 Mornson reported that he had been on vacation when the storm hit the City on July 1. He <br /> 31 thanked Kim Moore-Sykes for the wonderful job that she did of handling the situation and of <br /> 32 lending a sympathetic ear. He also thanked the entire City staff for their efforts. . Mornson <br /> 33 noted that the City does not have any literature available for flood victims and this may be <br /> something they will work on. <br /> 35 Wagner suggested it could be included as part of the Civil Defense Plan. <br />
