He added that hockey rinks need to
run north-south, so the sun would not melt the ice.

Lambreeht asked if the hockey rink would contain extensive tiling. Hubmer stated that
since the rink would intentionally be flooded and has a good grade, tiling would not be
needed.
Lambrecht suggested tiling might make the area more flexible and usable. She stated that
if it was done now while the park is under construction, there would be less disruption.
She added that tiling might maximize the available space, and could speed up the drying
process.

Jensen stated he took the conceptual drawings to a sports booster meeting. He added that
more people preferred the full-sized park version. He said that many people asked for the
park to be lit at night, so it could be used day or night, especially in the fall after school.

Siggelkow asked what the sports boosters liked about the proposal. Jensen stated he was
told a full-sized park could accommodate more age groups. The smaller park, 1$0 feet in
size, could accommodate only-12-13 year olds. If there were lights in the park, there
could be more games played per day.

Morris stated he believes more residents in this area prefer youth fields rather than adult
fields.
Jensen suggested a multi-age park, so no age group would be left out.

Morris suggested that if both the picnic area and basketball court were moved, there could
be space for a second field.

Hubmer said the playground could be moved. He.added that there are several good
concepts for playgrounds on slopes, slides on hills, etc. He said he would meet with the
planner this week and bring back information to the next Commission meeting. He
understands that the Commission would like a multi-age park.

Morris suggested a half-court be placed near the road, with a playground towards the hill
on the west side of the park containing a small scale version of the Bloomington Chutes
and Ladders Playground. He then said the youth softball field could be extended to adult
games as well. He said this way, the field could accommodate either two youth games, or
one adult game at a time.

Wolff stated this plan would allow space for a soccer field as well.

Wagner asked for clarifleation as to the dimensions of the park.
