March 2, 1999
To Mr. Mike Monson,
I am interested in being a member of the Planning Commission.
I am a fairly new resident of St. Anthony, but am very familiar with the city.
I grew-up just across the border, on Benjamin Street, in NE Minneapolis.
After getting married, we resided in Columbia Heights. When it became
time for our first child to begin:school., we chose the SANG school district
to educate our children. Three years ago, a good opportunity arose and we
purchased a home in St. Anthony. We are very happy with our acquisition
and plan on retiring there.
I was trained to be a carpenter, graduated first in my class, from St. Paul
Voc-Tech. In the early 1980's, the construction trades were suffering and I
left the profession. My heart is still in the construction business and I do not
hesitate to tackle large projects.
My current profession.is Supervisor/Project Coordinator, at LTV Color, in
Roseville. My responsibilities include supervising up to 50 people per shift
and ensure that the employees have all the necessary items to perform their
job. LTV Color is a custom print shop, which means that every job is
different and can be a challenge. The rapid growth and success of LTV
Color, particularly my finishing department, is testimony to my
performance.
I have always been interested in government. I made,an unsuccessful
attempt to be elected to the Columbia Heights School Board. I have made
my.voice heard many times at Columbia Heights City Council meetings.
Local newspapers have published many writings that I authored.
My history is quite broad and would be very useful to the Planning
Commission. Please consider me for the seat.
David P. Zurbey
3637 Roosevelt St. NE
St. Anthony, MN. 55418
612-781-1669
dazurb @uvcolor.com
