Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
March 12, 2001
Page 5
Skrivseth questioned if the meeting room would be rented out through community services or
through the City. She noted this was up in the air because of the financial gain on the rental fees
that would not be gained by the City. Jindra indicated she felt this could be discussed at a future
meeting.
Ms. Oliver explained the expenses for the Tower Park restrooms to be roughly $56,000 with a
15% contingency. She noted Silver Point Park would be approximately $230,000. Ms. Oliver
indicated the Central Park buildings would run roughly $470,000. She reported the removal of
the mezzanine level and permanent concession stand would reduce these expenses roughly
$67,000 to $70,000 bringing the fee to somewhere around $400,000.
Koehntop asked if bidding all these structures at the same time could reduce the expense for the
City. Ms. Oliver indicated the buildings would all be of the same materials, which could reduce
the expense on the Park Commission's part. She explained the structures being planned would
last for a substantial amount of time with an architectural style that fits into the surrounding
neighborhoods.
Jindra invited Ms. Oliver to revise her numbers on the Central Park buildings and then report
back to the Commission at the March 20, 2001 joint Council meeting.
VI.
