ANTHONY JULY/AUGUST 2001 <br /> City Council Approves Two Redevelopment <br /> Concepts for Further Evaluation <br /> The City Council on July 24 approved two concepts for Residential <br /> further evaluation for the redevelopment of the City's Northwest <br /> Quadrant, an area that focuses on the Apache Plaza Mall. Redevelopment <br /> The Council's approval of the concepts and final report marked Concept <br /> the culmination of the eight-month Northwest Quadrant <br /> Redevelopment Planning Study. The goal of the study was to iden- <br /> tify a redevelopment concept for the Apache Plaza Mall area that tm . <br /> would make it the kind of exciting focal point for the community <br /> that the shopping center once was. <br /> In developing the two concepts, the planning study's citizen steer- Q <br /> ing committee considered the environmental issues, neighborhood <br /> needs, community's objectives, and market and financial feasibility. <br /> The committee was assisted by a team of experts led by planning 3 _ t `� <br /> consultants Dahlgren, Shardlow and Uban. <br /> "The Steering Committee has done good work and provided us <br /> with two different redevelopment concepts that we can subject to = JR t <br /> further evaluation," said Mayor Dennis Cavanaugh. <br /> The major difference between the two concepts is that one has a <br /> larger residential component and the other includes a corporate <br /> campus in addition to residential development.
