He reviewed with Commission noting that it would <br /> 2 not increase the size or the cost. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Commissioner Young asked if there would be a cost increase if they change the size of the sign. <br /> 5 Mr. Clark reviewed the size noting that it would increase the matrix, which increases the cost of <br /> 6 the sign. He reviewed the power requirements with the Commission. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Chair Stromgren noted that the original memo mentioned 9-inch text and asked if they have a <br /> 9 target. Mr. Clark stated that with a full matrix they could go with the same size as what is <br /> 10 proposed for the north side. He indicated that it would have less space for display on the sign. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 Chair Stromgren clarified that the panels come in a standard modular size. Mr. Clark confirmed <br /> 13 and reviewed with the Commission. He stated that the sign is larger due to the logo. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Vice Chair Hanson asked what the life expectancy is for the LED signage. Mr. Clark explained <br /> 16 that the LED is a new technology noting that they have good service records. He stated that the <br /> 17 LED modules rarely go out adding that the vendor has a five-year warranty on the unit. He <br /> 18 stated that they have had similar signs up and running in other areas for over ten years with no <br /> 19 problems. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Chair Stromgren stated that he is believes the.site between the north lot and City Hall would be <br /> 22 the better location because it is closer to Silver Lake Road. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Vice Chair Hanson stated that he likes the tennis court location better. He stated that it is a wide- <br /> 25 open grassy area adding that it could be built to be more visible. He stated that landscaping <br /> 26 would really dress up the area. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Commissioner Hoska stated that he did his own study with neighbors and friends noting that they <br /> 29 all preferred the tennis court area. He stated that the sign would be bigger and easier to see <br /> 30 adding that the location between City Hall and the parking lot could be obstructive. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Commissioner Gray agreed stating that the visibility would be much better from the tennis court <br /> 33 location. Commissioner Jensen stated that elevating the sign would make it easier to see. <br /> 34 Commissioner Young agreed stating that the tennis court location would provide a longer period <br /> 35 of time to see the sign as people are approaching. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 Chair Stromgren noted that it appears to be a consensus to the tennis court location. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Commissioner Jensen stated he would prefer the 10 feet by 12 feet sign size and utilize the area <br /> 40 for more landscaping. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Commissioner Tillman noted that the current banner in the area seems to be a good size for the <br /> 43 sign noting that it is very visible. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Commissioner Young asked if they have given any thought to the color of the brick they would <br /> 46 use. Mr. Clark, stated that they plan to stay consistent with the brick used at City Hall. <br />
