-4- <br /> Other Council work sessions, all at 7 :00 P.M. , were scheduled for <br /> June 8 and .11 to consider the applications for the Manager ' s <br /> • position and June 22 and 29 to conduct the individual interviews . <br /> The Mayor announced Hennepin County has requested two City repre- <br /> sentatives to serve on the Hennepin County Human Services Com- <br /> mission who will hold an organizational meeting at 7 :30 P.M. , May <br /> 14th at 1801 Central Avenue N.E._ at which three meetings will be <br /> scheduled to establish human services needs for this area. Mr. <br /> Hamer will contact the Health Board Advisory Committee Chairman <br /> for persons willing to serve on this commission. <br /> She also reported the Minnesota Department of Transportation had <br /> contacted her to indicate the Ride Share program is in jeopardy <br /> and to request the City lobby their legislators for. continuance <br /> of the program. Councilman Ranallo said he sees the program as <br /> "subsidization of the participants by the taxpayers" and added he <br /> has yet to see convincing evidence of an energy shortage. <br /> Motion. by Councilman Sundland and seconded. by Councilman Marks to <br /> direct staff to write the City' s legislative representatives to <br /> indicate the City support of the Share-a-Ride program. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. Hamer outlined the schedule for proceeding with the sanitary <br /> sewer diversion project now that Minneapolis has agreed to execution <br /> • of the joint powers agreement. <br /> There was no consensus of the .Council to support the request from <br /> the Hennepin County Agriculture Society for funds to finance the <br /> Hennepin County Fair. <br /> There was also no interest for joining the efforts of St. Louis Park <br /> to pursuade the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to permit the <br /> burning of . leaves in the fall. <br /> The information regarding the annual meeting of the League of <br /> Minnesota Cities June-=11th was noted. <br /> The plans for the Silver Lane connection to 16th Avenue N.E. in <br /> New Brighton were presented by the Manager. Mayor Haik said she <br /> saw justification of concerns of residents on 39th Avenue N.E. and <br /> Fordham Drive .that their street will become a thoroughfare from <br /> Silver Lake Road to 16th Avenue once the connection is made. Staff <br /> was requested to contact Ramsey County to prohibit a right hand <br /> turn off Silver Lake Road onto 39th. <br /> The Public Works Department will conduct a Council tour of the City' s <br /> bituminous streets at 6 : 00 P .M. July 14th preceding their regular <br /> Council meeting. <br /> The March Police Department and the April Fire Department reports <br /> were ordered filed. <br />
