Copies
of the letter have been sent to the Mayor, Mayor-elect and Council-
persons of the City of New Brighton. The Mayor reported she had an
occasion to discuss the matter with Mr. Fornell who assured her New
Brighton' s first priority will be to build a new liquor store in
their downtown area and to date they have no plans for another such
operation in the area which borders St. Anthony. As a matter of fact,
Mr. Fornell had drawn the Mayor ' s attention to New Brighton ' s Compre-
hensive Plan which calls for downgrading that area from general
commercial to a lower zoning classification which would encourage a
neighborhood center usage. Councilman Marks believed the City officials
should continue encouraging proper land use for New Brighton.
