The Mayor said he had contacted the District <br /> #282 Middle School officials regarding- the student injured crossing <br /> Silver Lake Road at 34th Avenue N.E. , which was reported in the <br /> Fire Department December report. The principal had .told him she was <br /> enlisting parent cooperation in- assuring that students will follow <br /> school directives to only cross Silver Lake Road. at 33rd Avenue . <br /> • Chief Hickerson said the boy who was injured was- not the only student <br /> crossing at the time of the accident. The Fire Department report <br /> as well as the December Police Department report and liquor operations <br /> summary were then accepted as informational. <br /> As noted in the staff meeting report for January 21st, there will be <br /> a conflict between the regularly scheduled Council meeting February <br /> 23rd and the precinct caucuses to be held the same evening. <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman. Enrooth to <br /> move the Council meeting scheduled for. February 23 , 19.82 , to 7 : 30 P.M. , <br /> Monday , February 22 , 1982 . <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. Childs had included in the agenda packet the notice of the fire- <br /> fighter position which has been posted and is open to City employees . <br /> He alerted the Council to what he sees as "an attempt to rush through" <br /> the establishment of a new Metropolitan Surface Water Management <br /> agency over which the cities will have as little power as they now <br /> have when it comes to setting rates for the. Metro Waste Commission. <br /> He said the cities have been given very short notice of hearings <br /> on the proposed agency and the Council agreed it is imperative that <br /> the municipalities have input into the creation of another Metro <br /> agency . <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Enrooth to <br /> direct a letter be sent to the Metropolitan Council requesting action <br /> be delayed on the establishment of the proposed Metro Surface Water <br /> Management Agency until all metropolitan cities have had an opportunity <br /> to study the proposal. <br />
