-3 <br /> \ previous winter could not be- considered conclusive because of the <br /> • severity of the ' 1981- 82 season. Mr. .Hamer .had therefore advocated <br /> that the rinks. be closely monitored for at least two more winter <br /> seasons to determine whether or not it would ..be necessary that all <br /> three rinks be retained. <br /> The April 6th staff meeting notes were accepted as informational and <br /> Mr. Childs gave an update on the status of the legislation dealing <br /> with state aidsmoving through .the Legislature right now, assessing <br /> the extent of the cuts he anticipates for the City with each bill. <br /> He told the Council he is keeping in close touch with Senator Dieterich <br /> and Representative Rose regarding the. legislation. <br /> Chuck Wiger of North St. Paul.. appeared before the Council to seek <br /> their support for his candidacy to represent District #3 .on the' <br /> Metropolitan Council. He. cited :his ten years- of service on the Maple- <br /> wood School Board which brought him in close relationship with municipal <br /> officials -in such trying times as when schools had to be closed as <br /> well as his service as chief lobbyist for the Medical Association at <br /> the Legislature , all of which would. qualify himfor ser-vice in the <br /> Legislature. The Mayor told Mr. Wiger it is' his -personal belief that <br /> in the past the Metropolitan had often been unresponsive to the <br /> City ' s needs , which 'Mr. Wiger indicated is not an uncommon complaint <br /> among other municipal representatives . . The candidate, requested the <br /> Council members contact their legislative representatives to support <br /> his appointment by the Governor. <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded- by Councilman Letourneau to <br /> approve the second reading of .the ordinance which- would permit the <br /> amendment of the Cable T.V. Ordinance by mutual. written agreement. <br /> ORDINANCE 1983Q-003 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1982-009 <br /> KNOWN. AS THE CABLE COMMUNICATIONS ORDINANCE <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Before adjournment, the. Council accepted the April 5th quote from <br /> Bergerson-Caswell, Inc. of $2 ,134 to put Well #3 back in service this <br /> summer while the City is determining just what actions would be taken <br /> to protect the City ' s water supply from contamination. <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Enrooth to <br /> adjourn the .meeting at 8:.25 P.M. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Hele we , Se etary <br /> • ATTEST: Aayor <br /> City Clerk <br />
