Motion by Councilman Makowske and seconded by Councilman Enrooth to authorize the City Manager and Public Works Director to take whatever water conservation measurethey believe necessary for the summer. Motion carried unanimously. In his: June 11th memorandum, Mr. Childs had listed the actions which the Council should take to implement the Roseville water connection. Mr. Hamer had tabulated the four bids for the watermain connection construction on 29th Avenue N.E. which had been taken June 4th and advised that the lowest had been for $127,090 from R. W. Moore. The Public Works Director said the engineers had underestimated the cost of the meter manhole and had estimated the project cost to be $105 ,000 , which, Mr. Childs: said, could probably be offset somewhat, if the City is able to rent or borrow a meter from St. Paul, which the R. W. Moore company has agreed to modify their bid to exclude. Councilman Ranallo commented that the final cost would be much lower than an • earlier proposal-' from the water softener companies to rent their equipment. Mr. Childs indicated state officials had urged the City to apply for state superfunds with an adjustment to be made later for any federal monies , if such funds are made available to the City . Motion by Councilman Enrooth and seconded by Councilman Ranallo to adopt the resolution which accepts the proposal from Short-Elliott- Hendrickson, Inc. for the preparation of plans and specifications for the construction of the watermain along 29th Avenue N.E. to provide temporary water service to a portion of St. Anthony from the Roseville system at a cost of $7,000 , which would be reimbursed from the state Superfund. RESOLUTION 84-028 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A PROPOSAL FOR PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A WATERMAIN INTERCONNECTION Motion carried unanimously. . Motion by Councilman Enrooth and seconded by Councilman Ranallo to adopt the resolution which .awards the contract for the watermain con- struction on 29th Avenue N.E. to R. W. Moore for an amount not to exceed $127, 090 with the total project cost not to exceed $134 ,090 , plus attorney 's fees , if the City is unable to rent or borrow an 8 inch • meter manhole from St. Paul, and subject to St. Paul and Roseville agree- ing to the connection of the Roseville water system to a portion of St. Anthony, as proposed.
