Department, the
• Manager told Councilman Enrooth. the home at 3645 Roosevelt had only -been evacuated
for one day because of the gas leak from the Mi.co station, which appeared to be a
very small one. Mr. . Childs said the soil testing reports in that area would be
back the next day.
Mayor Sundland .related his own chilling experiences with the power failure in the
area affected by the power lines blown down near 3645 Silver Lake Road February
19th, which was one of the coldest nights of the year. There was no consensus on the Council to connect those
funds with the proposed raise in the Defense budget, but the general agreement
was that AMM should advocate that, if revenue funding for the states is to be cut
down or eliminated; the changes should be made gradually to avoid too great trauma
for those cities which have become so dependent -on those funds.
Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Ranallo to direct staff to
respond to the AMM Action Request as stipulated by the Mayor and Council .
Motion carried unanimously.
Councilman Ranallo reported the League of Minnesota Cities will be lobbying
against the Comparable Work law going into effect October, 1985, and would also
be working to have the costs of implementing the law transferred to the state
rather than the local governments.
Motion by Councilman Ranallo and seconded by Councilman Makowske to adopt the
resolution approving the agreement between the City and the Public Works Department
for the 1985 wages and insurance.
