�I <br /> -4- <br /> Council members he had been especially impressedwith two of the City's young <br /> • policemen, Officers Scholl and Ohl , who had offered to supervise the center <br /> activities and he perceived, appeared to have a sincere interest in helping the <br /> young people to get their center. <br /> Councilman Marks reported that at the last meeting of the Executive Committee for <br /> the Youth Service Bureau he had been given a report which indicated the Bureau had <br /> provided counseling services for 60. cases in St. Anthony to date, with three . <br /> additional cases undertaken between December and March. The Councilman suggested <br /> it might be beneficial for the new Youth Bureau Director to meet with the Mayor and <br /> Council to discuss some of'-these cases on a "nameless basis" of course, and at the <br /> same time to give the City officials some sense ofwhat the Bureau does, how they <br /> operate, and how effective their programs have been up to now. <br /> Councilman Ranallo recalled--the Bureau had asked the City for about $7,000 last <br /> year, which he doubted would be feasible- with current budgetary restrictions, but he <br /> agreed it would take more than a few minutes during a Council meeting to find out <br /> just what the Rureau would be providing for that amount and to clear up some of the <br /> questions which Councilman Marks had been unable to answer about how the statistics <br /> were developed. <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Makowske to request staff to <br /> try to set up a Council work session with the Director and other members of the <br /> Youth Service Bureau for 6:30 P.M. , Monday, June 3rd, if that date is acceptable to <br /> the Bureau Director. <br /> • Motion carried unanimously. <br /> The June 4th meeting with the Community Services Committee was noted and the Mayor <br /> reminded the Council members that the annual dinner for the Association of Metro- <br /> politan Municipalities would be held at the Sheraton Midway at 5 :30 P.M. , May 30th. <br /> Mr. Childs told Councilman Ranallo only two residents had called to question why the <br /> Fire Department had conducted the house burning training exercise on Edward Street <br /> on what they perceived to be a rather windy day. <br /> The Manager pointed out that there were fewer negative figures in the April liquor <br /> sales summary. Both that report and the April Fire Department report were ordered <br /> filed along with the Hance Law Firm listing of St. Anthony prosecution activity <br /> during April . <br /> Council members indicated they were glad to see cost savings for 1984 contained in <br /> the report from Seven Council Fire Department Joint Powers Purchasing Consortium which <br /> had been included in their agenda packet and Mr. Childs indicated he perceived the <br /> program had been a very successful one for the Village. <br /> During the consideration of the May 9th staff notes, the Manager corrected the <br /> amount the 1979 squad car had been sold at County auction for from $600 to $950 and <br /> indicated the decision had been made for the City to try to -sell the next available <br /> squad car itself. <br /> The report that the St. Anthony National Bank had proposed to sponsor a. community <br /> • concert in Central 'Park with the help of the City was greeted with enthusiasm by <br /> the .Mayor and Council . Mr. Childs indicated members were being sought to serve on <br />
