• -5-
Councilmember Ranallo reported the Fire Department had gone ahead with the Council 's
• suggestions for raising $10,000 for the Heart Aid equipment the Department had
indicated they needed to have available for emergency use after learning that the
machine they have been using as a demonstration project would have to be returned.
He said they had tentatively scheduled a steak and shrimp fry fund raiser to be held
in the St. Anthony Legion Club rooms, October 10th. It was explained for the benefit
of the Northeaster reporter that the equipment the Fire Department wanted to conduct
the fun raiser for was a heart defibrillator which the City had been testing for
the last few years for North Memorial hospital . The value of the machine had been
dramatically demonstrated several times with one example being its use three months
ago to revive Rick Lundeen, a City firefighter, who had suffered a heart attack
while fighting a fire, and who would be able to return to work shortly. Counci.l-
member Ranallo indicated he hoped the event would be given a lot of publicity since,
in addition to the fund raiser, the Fire Department also intended to contact the
various St. Anthony service organizations for donations as well .
Motion by Councilmember Enrooth and seconded by Councilmember Marks to adjourn the
meeting at 8:16 P.M. for the meeting of the St. Anthony Housing and Redevelopment
Authority which followed immediately.
Respectfully submitted,
Helen Crowe, Secretary
•
ay r
ATTEST: &,4-it el/ Q-Z,
City Clerk
