a ,
Motion carried unanimously.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Optical Scan Voting Machines Approved for St. Anthony
Carol Johnson, Finance Director, had addressed the questions
Councilmembers had raised about the above equipment in her January 13th
memorandum. As she had advised for the December 9th Council meeting,
Mr. Childs reiterated that the machines would cost approximately $4 ,800
apiece and should result in a savings for the City in terms of space
savings, installation and take down time, time it takes to vote, and
personnel to handle the voting. He also pointed out the expense the
City would incur every time one of the existing machines breaks down
and a repair man has to be summoned from New York to make the repairs.
Councilmember Marks agreed, saying just as is true of any antiquated
equipment today, replacement parts would probably soon be hard to find.
Council Action
Motion by Marks, seconded by Enrooth to enter into a joint purchase
agreement with Hennepin County for four Optic Scan Voting Machines; 28
voting booths; and four Duplicate Prom Pacs, for the City, with the
$25, 196 . 00 cost to be budgeted for 1988 at the time of delivery.
Motion carried unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Marks, seconded by Makowske to adjourn the meeting at 9: 00
P.M. for a discussion of a legal matter on which the City Manager
sought Council direction.
Motion carried unanimously.
Respectfully submitted,
Helen Crowe, Secretary
Mayo r
ATTEST:
City Clerk
:cjk
s
