• C=TY O F <br /> ST _ ANTY-SONY <br /> C OUN C I L M=NUTS S <br /> APIzXL 14 , 3987 <br /> The meeting, which followed the Board of Review, opened at 7: 38 P.M. with <br /> the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Sundland. <br /> Present for roll call: Marks, Ranallo, Sundland, Enrooth, Makowske. <br /> Also present: David Childs, City Manager <br /> William Soth, City Attorney <br /> Don Hickerson, Chief of Police <br /> Ray Nelson, Liquor Operations Manager. <br /> Beverly Fix and Jodi Brandt Recognized for Their Life Saving Efforts <br /> Mayor Sundland presented Community Service awards to Beverly Fix, 2015- <br /> 19th Avenue N.E. , Minneapolis, and Jodi Brandt, 5080 Rainbow Lane, <br /> Moundsview, for saving the life of Eleanor Hawbaker, 2710 Stinson <br /> Boulevard, in the Snyder Bros. Drug Store the morning of February 24 , <br /> 1987. He -read aloud Chief Hickerson' s February 25th memorandum to the <br /> Council recommending special recognition be given these two for their <br /> quick response to an apparent heart attack victim. In his memorandum, <br /> the Chief had reported St. Anthony Officer Ferguson had told him the fact <br /> that Beverly, a customer in the store, and Jodi, an employee, had <br /> immediately responded with CPR when Mrs. Hawbaker collapsed in the store <br /> had probably been directly responsible for saving the victim' s life. <br /> The Mayor told the two women that it was certainly a pleasure in times <br /> like these where people are afraid of getting involved, to find persons <br /> like themselves who are willing to take a risk to save someone else: He <br /> then presented the.. plaques commemorating their "outstanding service" to <br /> Ms. Fix and Ms. Brandt in the presence of a large number of their family <br /> members and friends. Chief Hickerson shook each of their hands as <br /> well. <br /> Progress Report Given by Outgoing- Director of North Suburban Youth <br /> Service Bureau, Dave Wilmes <br /> Before giving the above, Mr. Wilmes commented on how moving it had been <br /> for him to witness the outpouring of support given the two heroines by <br /> their families that evening, because "families is what the Bureau is all <br /> about. " The Bureau Director said he would be leaving the agency after <br /> 2-1/2 years of redirecting its funding to a more aggresive program. He <br /> said the funding goals are aimed at collecting $250,000 in two years and <br /> • where the previous efforts were 85% directed towards obtaining tax based <br />
