Police Reserve'_ Services at St. Charles Mardi Gras Commended by <br /> Councilmember Makowske <br /> 3 The Councilmember said she was very impressed with the way in which the <br /> 4 Reserves handled people at the above event and their faithfulness in <br /> 5 providing such good service outdoors, in spite of the very low windchill <br /> 6 readings during the event, February 8th. Mayor Sundland added that he <br /> 7 had also been very pleased with the reports which were being received <br /> 8 about the Reserves' involvement in the Crime Watch and Ride-A-Long <br /> 9 programs. Councilmember Makowske requested the Assistant to the City <br /> 10 Manager to convey her compliments to the Reserves. <br /> 11 Action on Ground Water Contamination Agreement with MPCA Deferred for <br /> 12 Language Changes by City Attorney <br /> 13 Mayor Sundland reported Mr. Soth had suggested some of the language in <br /> 14 the agreement might require modification and asked that Council action <br /> 15 on the proposed resolution be deferred until he had made those changes. <br /> 16 Council Action <br /> 17 Motion by Marks, seconded by Makowske to table action on Resolution 89- <br /> 18 007 until the Council's next meeting, February 28th, as requested by the <br /> 19 City Attorney. <br /> IMotion carried unanimously. <br /> 21 NEW BUSINESS <br /> 22 $3,800 Contract Deduction and 30 Day Extension Granted Foss Road Lift <br /> 23 Station Contractors <br /> 24 The general consensus was that the above project involved much more work <br /> 25 and many more problems than had been anticipated when bid. Mayor <br /> 26 Sundland indicated he perceived the contractor should be complimented <br /> 27 for using an existing wet well and thereby eliminating two manholes and <br /> 28 approximately 30 feet of gravity sewer from the project costs. He also <br /> 29 indicated concurrence with the Public Works Director's recommendation <br /> 30 that the requested contract extension be granted and liquidated damages <br /> 31 for the 30 day period be waived. <br /> 32 Council Action <br /> 33 Motion by Ranallo, seconded by Marks to follow the recommendations of <br /> 34 the Public Works Director to grant NewMech Construction Company a 30 day <br /> 35 extension with liquidated damages waived on the construction of the Foss <br /> 36 Road lift station project and to approve Change Order #1, which deducts <br /> 37 $3 ,800 from the contract cost. <br /> 38 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 0 5 <br />
