i <br /> 1 Motion by Marks, seconded by Makowske to approve payment of $4,741.75 <br /> to the Briggs and Morgan law firm for legal services related to St. <br /> Anthony's water contamination litigation settlement negotiations with <br /> 4 the U.S. Army during January, 1989. A $3,746.50 credit had been allowed <br /> 5 by the law firm in accordance with the agreement they had with the City <br /> 6 to limit their fees for these settlement negotiations to $17,500.00. <br /> 7 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 8 Motion by Marks, seconded by Makowske to approve payment of $19,627.86 <br /> 9 to the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission for March sewer services. <br /> 10 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 11 Motion by Marks, seconded by Makowske to approve the last payment of <br /> 12 $12,000.00 due School District 1282 for use of Parkview from July <br /> 13 through October, 1988 after which time the City acquired ownership of <br /> 14 the building. <br /> 15 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 16 REPORTS <br /> 17 COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> 18 Volunteers of America Week to be Observed in St. Anthony Week of Isarch <br /> 5-12 <br /> 20 In approving the above, the Council also accepted Mayor Sundland's <br /> 21 suggestion that a proclamationonoring volunteerism in St. Anthony <br /> 22 would be made sometime after Marc ' 26th. <br /> 23 Motion by Marks, seconded by Sundland to proclaim the week of March 5- <br /> 24 12, 1989 as Volunteers of America Week in St. Anthony with the <br /> 25 understanding that St. Anthony volunteers would be specially honored by <br /> 26 a similar proclamation sometime after Easter Sunday. <br /> 27 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 28 Cmncil to Hear About Propgsed Group Home Lgg,isl ati on at Future Meeting <br /> 29 Councilmember Makowske reported learning a good deal about the proposed <br /> 30 changes in regulation and location of group homes during the meeting of <br /> 31 the Ramsey County League of Local Governments held at Maplewood City <br /> 32 Hall, February 15th. She indicated she had been requested to ascertain <br /> 33 the City Council's interest in having someone come to a future Council <br /> 34 meeting to address the issues related to the disbursement of these <br /> 35 facilities into residential neighborhoods rather than clustering such <br /> 36 facilities around .the centers which provide immediate care for various <br /> 37 types of group home residents. The Councilmember indicated such <br /> 38 facilities are now county administered but state supervised with <br /> • 4 <br />
