1 When Ms. Thorson mentioned the street dance the committee hopes to hold <br /> •2 from 8 to 12 P.M. the Saturday night of the event, Councilmember Marks <br /> 3 advised her that the northeast corner of the Community Center parking <br /> 4 lot would be torn up most of the summer to install the pipes for the <br /> 5 permanent water filtration system. <br /> 6 The next meeting of the VillageFest Committee will be held March 6th <br /> 7 and Councilmember Ranallo, Mr. Childs, and Ms. VanderHeyden indicated <br /> 8 they intended to be in attendance to discuss some of the issues which <br /> 9 had been raised that evening. The City Manager indicated he hoped to <br /> 10 bring the first draft of a proposed proclamation recognizing the <br /> 11 VillageFest Committee as an official governing body of the VillageFest <br /> 12 weekend with him to that meeting. <br /> 13 Mayor of Falcon Heights to Replace Councilmember Marks as Chair of Board <br /> 14 of Directors of North Suburban Youth Service Bureau <br /> 15 Councilmember Marks reported the above had happened as he had hoped at <br /> 16 the last meeting of the YSB Board. However, he said he would continue <br /> 17 to serve on the Board and would chair its Personnel Committee. The <br /> 18 Councilmember then discussed all the areas into which the Bureau's <br /> 19 service had grown since he had become involved, including conferences <br /> 20 on teen suicide, the occult, drug and family problems as well as <br /> 21 establishment of mental health clinics for area youth. <br /> 22Mayor Reports Fund Raising Efforts to Pay for St Anthony Civic <br /> 03 Orchestra Visit to City's Sister City, Salo, Finland <br /> 24 Mayor Sundland indicated he was deeply involved in the raising of at <br /> 25 least $45,000 for the project to start with and indicated he was going <br /> 26 to arrange a meeting with the Finnish Consulate while he and <br /> _27 Councilmembers Marks and Ranallo are in Washington, D.C. for the March <br /> 28 National League of Cities Conference. <br /> 29 NLS' Conference Necessitates Change of Council Meeting from March 14th <br /> 30 to March 7th <br /> 31 Reference to the above was made during the discussion of the Conference <br /> 32 during which time Councilmember Marks reported his appointment to the <br /> 33 Human Development Policy Committee. <br /> 34 DEPARTMENTS AND COMMITTEES REPORTS <br /> 35 The February 16th report from the Hance & LeVahn law firm reporting <br /> 36 cases the City prosecutors had handled in Hennepin County District Court <br /> 37 up to February 15, 1989, was ordered filed after Councilmember Makowske <br /> 38 had commented that she hadn't liked seeing the report under the Pre- <br /> 39 trials before Judge Minenko that several DWI charges had been reduced <br /> 40 to careless driving. Mayor Sundland indicated it probably didn't make <br /> 41 that much difference since the court seems to be to suspend most of the <br /> 42 DWI sentences anyway. <br /> • 8 <br />
