REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING JULY 9, 1991 PAGE 9 4 5 6 The Kiwanis signs in the Gateway area will carry special 7 information regarding some of the Special Olympics events. Also, 8 informtional flyers will be available at City Hall and additional 9 information will be carried in Cable Channel 16. 10 11 2. Report of Councilmember Fleming 12 Councilmember Fleming is continuing her work with the Operation 13 Identification Program. In August a new program, Personal 14 Protection Program, will begin. 15 16 3. Report of Councilmember Enrooth 17 Councilmember Enrooth is serving on the Association of 18 Metropoltan Nunicipalities' Study Committee which will review the 19 Metropolitan Council . 20 2.1 Councilmember Enrooth attended the Village Fest meeting on July 22 8th. He reported that the plans for the affair are moving right 23 along and the Committee is now having weekly meetings. He noted 24 that there is a need for more volunteers for this year's events. 25 26 4. Report of Councilmember Marks Councilmember Narks noted that the Ramsey County Delegation of the Ramsey County Leaque of Local Government has scheduled a 29 meeting on July 17th. He plans to attend the meeting. 30 31 5. Report of Mayor Ranallo 32 The Mayor attended the Chamber of Commerce Board of Director& 33 meeting. The monthly luncheon meeting scheduled. for July 16th 34 will discuss employer problems and has invited a guest speaker 35 who is affiliated with an employer's association. ' 36 37 The Mayor noted that the "Shop St. Anthony" campaign is slow in 38 starting . The St. Anthony Chamber of Commerce has donated 61 ,000 39 for a start up fund. The City has also allocated some funding for 40 this program. The idea of "St. Anthony Dollars" which can be used 41 in stores or businesses in the City is being explored. 42 43- The Chamber of Commerce is planning a golf tournament to be held 44 on Silver Lake in January or February. 45 46 Mayor Ranallo noted that August 6th has been designated as 47 "National Night Out". He requested the reporter from the Bulletin 48 to write an article publicizing this event and suggested that 49 Dave Urbia could also so some publicity . He noted that members of 50 the City Council will attend any functions held in conjunction 5: with this event in the community . Mayor Ranallo has accepted the Chairperson position on the League t5? 'of Minnesota Cities' Federal Legislation Committee.
