1 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> iu:- y 9, 1991 <br /> PAGE 10 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 C. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> 7 <br /> 8 1. Vacancy in Police Officer Position <br /> 9 Thirty candidates have expressed interest in the vacancy in the <br /> 10 police officer position. The City Manager expects the position to <br /> 11 be filled by September. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 2. Sidewalk Appraisal on Silver Lane <br /> 14 Letters were sent out to twenty seven property owners on Silver <br /> 15 Lane. Twelve responses were received. Most of the opposition to <br /> 16 the project is regarding cost. The City Manager advised that the <br /> 17 Boosters have indicated their .organization may pay some of the <br /> 18 costs of this project. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 3. Federal Mandates for Police Reports <br /> 21 An incident based reporting system in the Police Department must <br /> 22 be implemented by January of 1992. The federal mandate will <br /> 23 require new computer software and reporting forms. It is <br /> 24 anticipated the costs will be approximately 615,000. In light of <br /> 25 the. budget reductions this may be a difficult expense to incur. <br /> 26 <br /> 4. Foss Road Lift Station <br /> 46 The City Manager advised that 617,000 is being withheld from <br /> 29 NewMech until the Settlement Offer has been officially approved. <br /> 30 A tentative settlement has been reached wherein the City will pay <br /> 31 half of the remaining costs and the firm will give the City a new <br /> 32 pump and motor. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Motion by Marks, second by Fleming to direct staff to settle the <br /> 35 matter of the Foss Road Lift Station. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 38 <br /> 39 5. Yard Waste Disposal <br /> 40 Urbia advised the Council that he has contacted the City of <br /> 41 Fridley regarding the use of its Transfer Site located at 73rd <br /> 42 and University Avenues by St. Anthony residents who live in <br /> 43 Hennepin. County. St. Anthony residents would pay 62.00 for up to <br /> 44 ten bags of yard waste. St. Anthony residents in Ramsey County <br /> 45 presently use the Lake Johanna site. The Fridley City Council <br /> 46 would have to approve this arrangement. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 Urbie drafted a resolution which addresses the submittal . of an <br /> 49 application for rebate money from Hennepin County for yard waste <br /> 50 disposal. <br /> 51 <br /> 52 <br />
