Uses of the <br /> 7 Community Center were focused on with particular thought <br /> 8 being given to the needs of those using the building at <br /> 9 the present time. Defining community services was <br /> 10 addressed. A list is being generated by a staff member of <br /> 11 the Community Services Department as to what types of <br /> 12 activities are to be accommodated in the building, the <br /> 13 room space necessary to conduct various community <br /> 14 services and functions and the typical occupancy. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 2 . Report of Councilmember Fleming <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Councilmember Fleming attended the National League of <br /> 19 Cities Congressional Conference in Washington, D.C . She <br /> 20 felt the ma.in issues discussed dealt with government <br /> 21 mandates and funding sources . <br /> 22 <br /> 23 She felt some of the municipal officials felt the <br /> 24 highlight of the Conference was meeting with President <br /> 25 Clinton . He was there to sell his budget program. <br /> Councilmember Fleming cautioned that all municipal <br /> officials should be aware of the Police Bill of Rights <br /> 28 and its progress . It may have an impact on each community <br /> 29 in the country. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 When the Mayor inquired how effective she felt the <br /> 32 Conference was , Councilmember Fleming responded she would <br /> 33 give a report on this later. The Mayor viewed the <br /> 34 networking opportunities with other local elected <br /> 35 officials has always been very beneficial for him. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 3 . Report of Councilmember Enrooth <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Recently, Councilmember Enrooth toured two other city ' s <br /> 40 community centers . He noted that they were totally <br /> 41 different from each other . <br /> 42 <br /> 43 The Councilmember particularly liked the facility in <br /> 44 Mahtomedi . It used very creative architecture with an <br /> 45 add-on to part of the building and some reconstruction . <br /> 46 It is similar to what Councilmember Enrooth perceives can <br /> 47 be done in St . Anthony. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 The City Manager is quite familiar with this facility. He <br /> 50 gave the history of the building noting that the oldest <br /> 0 <br />
