Warner that <br /> 7 it is not within the purview of the City to become involved <br /> 8 with personnel issues . Members of the City Council received a <br /> 9 copy of the Mayor ' s letter of reply. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 These three organizations lease space in the Apache Wells and <br /> 12 the Stonehouse in which the gambling operation is run . <br /> 13 <br /> 14 A petition signed by patrons of these two establishments was <br /> 15 a-1 so received . The petition supported a number- of issues among <br /> 16 which were posting of winners , and respectful treatment of <br /> 17 employees . <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Terry Taylor, Gambling Board Chair, was at the Council <br /> 20 Meeting. He stated he had not seen the petition before <br /> 21 tonight . Councilmember Enrooth observed that the Council can <br /> 22 do nothing until the three organizations respond . Mayor <br /> 23 Rana,llo requested Mr . Taylor to talk to members of his <br /> 24 committee and return to the City Council . <br /> 25 <br /> The Mayor received a letter from three property owners who <br /> 0 live on Stinson Boulevard . The primary reason for the letter <br /> 28 was to indicate what they view as negative impacts the CUB <br /> 29 store will have on their property values . <br /> 30 <br /> 31 They are also concerned with increased traffic on Stinson <br /> 32 Boulevard , speeding, noise, vandalism and littering in their <br /> 33 area . They inquired if there will be additional police <br /> 34 officers hired to deal with the problems which may come from <br /> 35 this store. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 Councilmember Marks feels the traffic enforcement in St . <br /> 38 Anthony is superior to that of surrounding communities . <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Councilmember Enrooth suggested it may only be an assumption <br /> 41 and not a proven. fact that the CUB store will adversely affect <br /> 42 real estate values . <br /> 43 <br /> 44 The City Manager observed that when Apache Plaza was built. <br /> 45 thirty years ago none of these concerns became an issue. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Mayor Ranallo recalled there used to be three grocery stores <br /> 48 in the City with their associated traffic. Now with fewer , <br /> 49 there is little likelihood that traffic will ever reach that <br /> 50 level again . <br /> • <br />
