REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> 2 JUNE 22 , 1993 <br /> 3 PAGE 6 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 Councilmember Fleming referred to an article which spoke <br /> 6 to a bill being sponsored by Senator Kempthorne relative <br /> 7 to who pays the costs associated with federal mandates or <br /> 6 federal regulations . Senator Kempthorne, who also served <br /> 9 as Mayor of an Idaho city, believes the federal <br /> 10 government should reimburse states , cities and counties <br /> 11 for costs borne by them to comply with federal <br /> 12 requirements . <br /> 33 <br /> 14 Mayor Ranallo stated that the National League of Cities <br /> 15 and the League of Minnesota Cities support this concept <br /> 16 and have requested no new legislation without funding . <br /> 17 The Association of Metropolitan Municipalities also has <br /> 18 a policy similar to these two organizations on this <br /> 19 subject . <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Staff was requested to send a letter supporting the <br /> 22 position of Senator Kempthorne to Minnesota ' s two <br /> 23 senators asking their .support or co-authorship . <br /> 24 <br /> 5 3 . Report of Councilmember Marks <br /> 7 Counc.ilm�--!mher Marks felt the visit from the residents of <br /> 28 Salo, Finland was very successful and he thanked all <br /> 29 members of the Council for their participation . <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Councilmember Marks ' parents recently celebrated their. <br /> 32 sixtieth wedding anniversary . <br /> 4 4 . Report of Councilmember Enrooth <br /> 35 <br /> 36 On June 34th : Counci l�,ember Enrooth and Counci Imember <br /> 37 Wagner participated in a ribbon cutting at the hen2ington <br /> 38 for the .'Resolution Tr,]st Corporation . This activity <br /> 39 initiated - the sale of the housing units in the <br /> 40 development . Sixty five of the 145 units will be <br /> 41 available for sale. They will be selling for between <br /> 42 $35 , 000 and $47 , 000 . Councilmember Enrooth felt the <br /> 43 development has been very well maintained and the units <br /> 44 are very desirable. Existing tenants will be encouraged <br /> 45 to purchase if they are currently renting. Creative <br /> 46 financing will be available. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 This development is the first one in the country of the <br /> 49 .$repossessed" projects of the RTC to be sold on the open <br /> 50 market . <br /> • <br />
