REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING 2 i;3NE 22 , 1993 3 RAGE 5 4 5 F Dave Childs , New Brighton City Manager , presented the 7 options for the Bureau to locate in the proposed New 8 Brighton Family Center . The pros and the cons of this 9 location were considered . 10 it Councilmember Fleming stated her opposition to this 12 relocation because of the potential for controversy . A 13 decision will be made in the near future as New Brighton 14 wants to get started with the project . ; ] � The Bureau served 115 St . Anthony residents in 1997. with 17 72 of those services being for youth employment . l8 9 Cournc.i ]member Fleming attended a meeting sponsored by 11)e 20 cities of Maplewood , Falcon Heights , Roseville and New 21 Brighton . The topic -of the meeting was "why Cities Need 22 Human Rights Commis ions . " She rioted that St . Anthriny was 23 listed a5 having a Human Rights Commission but this 24 appeared to be an error . iShe feels it is appropriate to organize this type of 27 corwission before the need arises . She felt the agir-g 2F poi.,u] ation should be a concern in St . Anthony especially 29 regarding discrimination . ;r 31 counci ]merri];Fr Fleming was appointed to the Suburban 32 Adolescent Health Task Force by Hennepin County : 3 Conim i ss i oner Keefe . The Commission is charged with 34 formulating recommendations for a course of action to 35 enhance the -health and well being of suburban 36 adolescents . This action should promote healthier 37 lifestyles and access to proper health services . . V-ie 38 recommendations are expected by October 1st . She observed 39 that drug use- has dropped dramatically since the DARE 40 Program has become a reality . The level of sexual 41 activity appears to have - remained the same. 42 43 Councilmember Fleming attend the June 21st meeting of the 44 St . Anthony - New Brighton School District Task Force. 45 This task force is to address space issues for the 45 Wilshire Park School and the Community Services Program. 47 It ' s final report is due by September 26th . Each member 4'. of the task force was given a list of options from which 49 to choose a special interest .
