REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
SEPTEMBER 14 , 1993
PAGE 3

It has been raised only about two inches resulting in his
driveway having a drop-off into the street . Mr. Mander felt he
has been misled by the contractor.

Virgil Hawkins, representing Maier Stewart Engineering, stated
it that the original intention was to restore Croft Drive to its
original grades but he noted that this street had a steep
grade originally. The street now is designed for proper
drainage.

Mayor Ranallo recalled that a Maier Stewart representative had
stated at the public hearing the driveways in this project
area would remain the same after the project is completed as
they were originally. He requested Mr. Mander' s driveway be
returned to its original grade.

Mr. Hawkins advised that the grade of Mr. Mander's driveway
was steep and it would be impossible to replace all of the
driveways back to the way they were.

Bob Stroncek, 3416 31st Avenue, felt there has been a lack of
communication between the property owners and the construction
company. The Mayor felt there has also been a lack of
" listening. "

The City Manager suggested that each property owner be
32. contacted regarding his/her concerns of the project . He also
recommended that each driveway be reshot . It was noted that
some people may have not spoken up during the construction
regarding any concerns they may have.

Earl Shamp, 3509 31st Avenue, agreed there was poor
communication but felt his personal experience with the
contractor was positive. He noted that some property has
considerable mistakes made on them. Mr. Shamp felt the
property owners should have been apprised if there were going
to be any changes on their property.

Joe Sevick, 3505 31st Avenue, also recalled that at the public
hearing it was stated by the engineer there would be no
changes. He felt for future projects the plans should be
explained more precisely. He has a sharp drop-off on his front
yard which resulted from this project and this needs
resolving.
