REGULAR COUNCIL •MEETING
SEPTEMBER 14 , 1993
PAGE 7

4 . Report of Mayor Ranallo

Mayor Ranallo reminded there was a Clean-Up Day scheduled for
Saturday, September 18th. This is for resident participation
only.

B. Report of the City Manacler

1 . Kenzinaton Representative

Bill Plice, representing residents of the- Kenzington, was
attending the meeting to make a request for Council
consideration.

There is a triangular piece of property adjacent to the
•Kenzington. Mr. Plice noted that this parcel is to be sold by
RTC by sealed bid. Residents of the Kenzington would be
interested in purchasing this parcel . While° they do not have
the funds for the total purchase price they are willing to
participate in a modest fashion.
They feel there is a desperate need for parking at the
Kenzington and this parcel would be the solution for parking
problems which have been experienced since the building was
first constructed.

Kenzington residents also feel there would be ample space left
to accommodate a green area.

- The request is for the City to purchase and develop the green
space. Another concern is regarding what type of business
would be allowed by the present zoning.

M' Mayor Ranallo responded that when McDonald' s was looking at
this parcel it was appraised at $145,000. He also noted this
parcel is not zoned for this type of establishment .

The City Manager advised that RTC has stated it will accept a
minimum bid of $116,000 for this parcel . He recalled there has
been interest in this parcel by a medical group for office
space. Parking could be shared if this group purchased the
property. It is located in a Tax Increment District.

•
