This should be a consideration when 13 discussing the costs of the process . 14 15 Councilmember Marks is of the opinion that the single most 16 important decision the City Council makes is in the selection 17 of a city manager. 18 19 Councilmember Fleming noted the longevity of service of three members of the City Council . She felt this many years of experience would be sufficient for having the City Council 22 perform the city manager search. 23 24 City Manger Burt has gone through both processes, that where 25 the City Council did the search and the one done by a 26 professional search firm. He felt the process performed by a 27 search firm was very good. The profile had real advantages . 28 Burt also noted there would be no staff member on board who 29 could go through all of the applications . 30 31 Councilmember Enrooth felt the profile prepared by the 32 Brimeyer Group would be an investment for the future. He noted 33 the City has had to replace its city manager on a three to 34 five year basis and the profile would be very useful . 35 36 The Mayor has served with three city managers since he has 37 been on the Council . He recalled that three different 38 processes were used with the hiring of each of them. 39 40 The Mayor also stated he wants all five members of the Council 41 to agree on the final selection.
