1 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> 2 FEBRUARY 22 , 1994 <br /> 3 PAGE 7 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 1 . Report of Councilmember Wagner <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Councilmember Wagner had nothing to report at this time. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 2 . Report of Councilmember Fleming <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Councilmember Fleming advised the Council a new group <br /> 12 formed by residents of St . Anthony is present to explain <br /> 13 its purpose and mission. The spokesperson for the group <br /> 14 is Judy Makowske . <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Ms . Makowske advised the group has chosen the name of <br /> 17 "HEART of St . Anthony" which stands for Health, <br /> 18 Education, and Rights Task Force . <br /> 19 <br /> She introduced members of the group who are Ken Mattson <br /> Don DeWall, Mary Ann Kuharski, and Dorothy Fleming. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Ms . Makowske advised this group is fashioned after <br /> 24 similar groups already functioning in Minneapolis . She <br /> 25 cited specifically groups in the Jordan Area and the <br /> 26 Lyndale Area. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 There has been a mission statement drafted. The focus of <br /> 29 the group is one of connectedness and networking. They <br /> 30 will encourage communty commitment and hope to make St . <br /> 31 Anthony a more caring and safe place for its residents . <br /> 32 <br /> 33 While it is not the group' s intention to take over any of <br /> 34 the responsibilities of organizations already established <br /> 35 in the City, it is its hope to provide networking <br /> 36 opportunities for them. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Funding will be requested from Hennepin County for future <br /> 39 activities of the group and for speakers and materials . <br /> 40 <br /> 41 The City Council is being requested to voice its support <br />
