Mayor Ranallo said the Mako, Inc. group have inquired about the availability of tax
7 increment money in order to purchase and develop (with townhomes) property.in the
8 City. Ranallo told them that there is a 10 or 12 year payback for TIF money. The
9 Mayor would like to schedule a meeting of interested parties to discuss the financial
10 aspects of such a development.
11 E. Councilmember Wagner has put together some figures relative to the Community
12 Center/City Hall issue and indicated he would like to arrange a meeting with the
13 Interim City Manager, the Alliance (architect) and himself to discuss his findings.
14 Councilmember Fleming plans to attend a League of Minnesota Cities meeting this
15 week. She perceives a topic to be discussed will concern health care facilities as they
16 relate to,persons suffering from Alzheimer-like illnesses. The League may appeal to
17 the legislature in this regard.
08 A task force was formed of persons interested in keeping the St. Anthony Library open
19 and its expansion. They have met twice and at the last meeting ex-St. Anthony
20 Councilmember Judy Makowske was appointed to chair the task force. A resolution is
21 being prepared defining the goals of Task Force.
22 The HEART committee is planning a celebration of the improvements to the south end.
23 Fleming said the event is scheduled for May 19th.
24 The Interim City Manager had distributed a memo to the Councilmembers prior to the
25 meeting regarding the vandalism at the bus stop located at 29th Avenue N.E. and Silver
26 Lake Road. Councilmember Fleming had been contacted by the owner of the home at
27 the location of the bus shelter. Fleming wondered if the shelter could be moved to the
28 vacant lot north of its present location. Hamer was informed by the MTC that shelter
29 locations are based on patterned use. Hamer was also told that St. Anthony's bus
30 shelter vandalism is very minor in comparison to other communities.
31 Councilmember Enrooth gave an update on the plans for this year's VillageFest
32 festivities (August 5th and 6th). Activities will begin on Friday afternoon and will
33 conclude on Saturday night with an ice cream social and, hopefully, the St. Anthony
34 Orchestra be able to will play.
