Inc. in the amount of$2,640.00 for 1994 Watermain 8 and Street Improvement Project. 9 G. Rieke Carroll Muller Associates. Inc. in the amount of$3,800.00 for professional services 10 rendered from August 1 to August 31, 1994 for street feasibility report. 11 H. Rieke Carroll Muller Associates. Inc. in the amount of$6,443.87 for professional services 12 rendered from July 31 to August 27 for street design. 13 I. Milton Johnson Roofing in the amount of$8,500.00 for roofing of southwest section of 14 City Hall. 15 J. Five and one half pages of Verified Claims as presented by the Finance Director. 16 Motion carried unanimously. W VII. REPORTS. 18 A. Mayor. 19 1. Meeting Regarding Crime Prevention. Mayor Ranallo outlined a meeting he and Police 20 Chief Engstrom attended regarding crime prevention. There were 22 mayors and 40 community 21 representatives in attendance. He informed the Council that the head of the Juvenile Division of 22 the St. Paul Police reported that there has been an increase in violent crimes but not in regular 23 crimes, and that 87%of crimes are committed by juveniles with 90%being males. The main 24 reason for the increase in juvenile crimes is attributable to lack of parental supervision. 25 Fleming was concerned that if the problem was lack of parental supervision, why was funding in 26 the recently signed Crime Bill being designated to hire additional police officers. Mayor Ranallo 27 agreed. He stated that it is estimated that the money included in the Crime Bill, which was 28 signed today, will be used within 6 years. One of the recommended uses is a Statewide Share 29 Information Program which would make information on criminals available to all police offices 30 in the state of Minnesota. Mayor Ranallo stated he will continue to attend and report on these 31 meetings. 32 2. Cable TV. Mayor Ranallo indicated a survey was done to establish the number of people 33 who would watch Council meetings, if televised. In St. Anthony only 2% of the population responded to the survey. Of the 30% of the residents in St. Anthony who subscribe to cable, only 5 2% said they would be interested in watching the broadcast.
