City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • March 26, 1996 <br /> Page 7 <br /> 1 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 2 E. Request by the Knights of Columbus to Distribute Tootsie Rolls in the Citv of St. . <br /> 3 Anthony. <br /> 4 Mr. Joe Check, member of the Knights of Columbus of Fridley, stated they will be <br /> 5 holding their annual tootsie roll drive and all the funds collected are passed on to the <br /> 6 handicapped and retarded. The dates of the drive are April 26, 27, and 28th. They are <br /> 7 requesting to be allowed to distribute tootsie rolls at New Market, the liquor store at <br /> 8 Apache Plaza and the liquor store and grocery store at St. Antony Shopping Center. Mr. <br /> 9 Check reported last year the drive collected $16,197.81 and expenses-were $1,897.50. <br /> 10 Motion by Wagner, second by Marks to allow the Knights of Columbus to distribute <br /> 11 tootsie rolls for donation at New Market, the liquor store at Apache Plaza and the liquor <br /> 12 store and grocery store at St. Anthony Shopping Center in the City of St. Anthony on <br /> 13 April 26, 27, and 28, 1996. <br /> 14 Mayor Ranallo noted all funds collected by the Knights of Columbus are contributed to <br /> 15 needs of people in the immediate area. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 17 Professor Franklin asked Mayor Ranallo to provide more detail about the benefits of the <br /> 18 redevelopment of Apache Plaza to the City of St. Anthony. <br /> 19 Mayor Ranallo explained how the redevelopment of Apache Plaza would increase the tax <br /> 20 base of the City of St. Anthony. <br /> 21 St. Thomas student asked if a future use had been determined for the New Market <br /> 22 building. <br /> 23 Mayor Ranallo stated this had not yet been determined. <br /> 24 St. Thomas student asked how long it would take for the tax base to.recover. <br /> 25 Mayor Ranallo stated it would depend on what other businesses locate in Apache Plaza. <br /> 26 The current projection is 15 years. <br /> 27 X. UNFINISHED BUSINESS -None. <br /> 28 XI. ADJOURNMENT. <br /> Motion by Marks, second by Wagner to adjourn the meeting at 8:02 P.M. <br />
