City Council Regular Meeting Minutes June 10, 1996 • Page 3 1 Mayor Ranallo asked when the bike patrol would be instituted. Police Chief Engstrom 2 explained two officers have attended the preliminary school. $1,500.00 of the 3 contribution will be used to purchase two mountain bikes and equipment. Four officers 4 will then be trained to patrol the parks and neighborhoods. He reported there has been 5 positive response in other communities where this program has been instituted and it will 6 enhance the Community Oriented Policing program. 7 B. Councilmembers. 8 Councilmember Faust reported he would be serving on a Task Force-for property tax 9 reform as a part of the League of Minnesota Cities Improving the Fiscal Future of Cities 10 Program. 11 Councilmember Marks reported his attendance at a meeting of the St. Anthony Sister 12 City Committee. He noted arrangements are being made for Telle's visit on July 19, 13 1996 and the Committee is working to finish arrangements for the Teacher Exchange 14 Program. Marks distributed minutes of the last three meeting to Councilmembers. 15 Marks also reported Demetrius Jelatis, former Mayor of Red Wing,had passed away. qC. Mayor. 18 Mayor Ranallo reported the Open House for the Arnie Gregory project which was 19 originally scheduled for June 18, 1996, had been rescheduled for June 11, 1996. He 20 noted he would be unable to attend. 21 D. City Manager. .22 City Manager Morrison reported the City had received 46 applications for the position of 23 Liquor Store Operations Manager. He stated he hoped to interview the finalists next 24 week and have a decision by June 20th or 21 st. 25 Morrison reported the ground breaking ceremony for the CUB Food Store is scheduled 26 for August 1, 1996 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. He stated he had met with the Chamber of 27 Commerce President Bob Foster and the Chamber will do the coordination including 28 food, flyers, etc. 29 Mornson reported the County Engineer will be present at the July 9, 1996 City Council 30 meeting to discuss the bridge project and also the overlay proposed for Silver Lane. 31 VIII. PUBLIC HEARING -None. IsIX. NEW BUSINESS A. Resolution 96-042. re: Issuance and Sale of$1,120.000.00 General Obligation Taxable 34 Tax Increment Bonds.
