City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> June 10, 1996 <br /> • Page 3 <br /> 1 Mayor Ranallo asked when the bike patrol would be instituted. Police Chief Engstrom <br /> 2 explained two officers have attended the preliminary school. $1,500.00 of the <br /> 3 contribution will be used to purchase two mountain bikes and equipment. Four officers <br /> 4 will then be trained to patrol the parks and neighborhoods. He reported there has been <br /> 5 positive response in other communities where this program has been instituted and it will <br /> 6 enhance the Community Oriented Policing program. <br /> 7 B. Councilmembers. <br /> 8 Councilmember Faust reported he would be serving on a Task Force-for property tax <br /> 9 reform as a part of the League of Minnesota Cities Improving the Fiscal Future of Cities <br /> 10 Program. <br /> 11 Councilmember Marks reported his attendance at a meeting of the St. Anthony Sister <br /> 12 City Committee. He noted arrangements are being made for Telle's visit on July 19, <br /> 13 1996 and the Committee is working to finish arrangements for the Teacher Exchange <br /> 14 Program. Marks distributed minutes of the last three meeting to Councilmembers. <br /> 15 Marks also reported Demetrius Jelatis, former Mayor of Red Wing,had passed away. <br /> qC. Mayor. <br /> 18 Mayor Ranallo reported the Open House for the Arnie Gregory project which was <br /> 19 originally scheduled for June 18, 1996, had been rescheduled for June 11, 1996. He <br /> 20 noted he would be unable to attend. <br /> 21 D. City Manager. <br /> .22 City Manager Morrison reported the City had received 46 applications for the position of <br /> 23 Liquor Store Operations Manager. He stated he hoped to interview the finalists next <br /> 24 week and have a decision by June 20th or 21 st. <br /> 25 Morrison reported the ground breaking ceremony for the CUB Food Store is scheduled <br /> 26 for August 1, 1996 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. He stated he had met with the Chamber of <br /> 27 Commerce President Bob Foster and the Chamber will do the coordination including <br /> 28 food, flyers, etc. <br /> 29 Mornson reported the County Engineer will be present at the July 9, 1996 City Council <br /> 30 meeting to discuss the bridge project and also the overlay proposed for Silver Lane. <br /> 31 VIII. PUBLIC HEARING -None. <br /> IsIX. NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. Resolution 96-042. re: Issuance and Sale of$1,120.000.00 General Obligation Taxable <br /> 34 Tax Increment Bonds. <br />
