City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> July 8, 1997 <br /> • Page 11 <br /> 1 1. Liquor Store Update. <br /> 2 Morrison reported closing was completed on June 27 and pre-construction is scheduled for <br /> 3 July 7. The contractor anticipates a starting date of July 14 and completion date of October <br /> 4 20. The bond sale approval in the approximate amount of$900,000, is scheduled for July 22. <br /> 5 Morrison noted that many things had occurred during this process which resulted in the City <br /> 6 saving money. Ste. Marie allowed the City to pay month-to-month on August 30, 1996 for <br /> 7 SAV 2. Ste. Marie agreed to terminate the remaining 42 months of an Apache Wells lease <br /> 8 resulting in a savings of$200,000. Ste. Marie agreed on a purchase price of $200,000 under <br /> 9 the appraisal. Ste. Marie reduced the rent by $1,250 a month on SAV 2, effective June 1, <br /> 10 1997 to assist with the additional electrical cost. <br /> 11 2. City Hall Update. <br /> 12 Morrison reported there is a leak in the ceiling of the City Hall due to Tuesday's rain which is <br /> 13 currently being analyzed by the inspector. <br /> 14 On July 1, 1997 the paving contract was terminated. The City has received a letter from <br /> 15 Northwest Bituminous that they will consider doing the paving if the City agrees to do the <br /> 16 testing. Morrison reported he, Jim O'Brien and Public Works Director will meet with Graus <br /> 17 Construction in an attempt to get the building finished. Morrison noted the main goal is to <br /> 18 get the driveway paved and the area behind the police department lowered so that water can <br /> 4wgo where it is supposed to. <br /> 20 Mike Peterson contacted the City to obtain a letter verifying the Sports Boosters contributions. <br /> 21 The Sports Boosters have committed to $60,000 and have already paid $15,000. Another <br /> 22 contribution of$25,000 will be made by the end of July. <br /> 23 3. Comprehensive Plan Update. <br /> 24 The Comprehensive Plan Update will be reviewed at the July 15 Planning Commission <br /> 25 meeting and members of the task force are invited. If the task force is satisfied with the <br /> 26 update, it will be forwarded to the City Council and then submitted to all governing agencies. <br /> 27 The public hearing in regard to the update will be held in the fall. <br /> 28 4. Silver Lake Bridge. <br /> 29 A meeting has been scheduled on July 9 with Ramsey County's Dan Solar to discuss how <br /> 30 much money the county will provide for the Silver Lake bridge project. This may be on the <br /> 31 Council's July 22 agenda. <br /> 32 5. Meeting with WSB <br /> 33 WSB, engineering consultant, will hold a meeting on July 10 relating to their draft report on <br /> 34 the water management plan. This may be on the Council's July 22 agenda. <br /> 35 6. MPRS Affirmative Action Plan <br /> A meeting is scheduled on July 11 in Fridley regarding the draft of the MPRS affirmative <br /> action plan. <br />
