REPORTS. <br /> 4 A. Council. <br /> 5 Marks reported the St. Anthony Orchestra will present a concert of works composed by <br /> 6 Orchestra members and local residents on Thursday November 19, 1998 at Presbyterian Homes. <br /> 7 He stated his wife is among-the local composers featured. He added the concert will be repeated <br /> 8 November 22, 1998 in City Hall. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 Marks reported on the progress of the Sister City organization which held its first meeting <br /> 11 Sunday November 8, 1998. He stated association membership applications were presented at the <br /> 12 meeting, and he distributed applications to the Mayor, Councilmembers and audience members. <br /> 13 He invited interested residents to join the Sister City organization, which is preparing for visits to <br /> 14 and from Finland. <br /> 15 <br /> Marks encouraged community participation in the Sister City organization to make related <br /> 7 opportunities available to a wider range of residents. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Cavanaugh reported on his attendance at recent focus groups conducted by the St. Anthony <br /> 20 Chemical Health Coalition. He stated the youth focus groups took place on Monday November <br /> 21 2, 1998, and the adult focus groups on Monday November 9, 1998. He added a summary of <br /> 22 results is being compiled by the facilitator in the form of a community report which outlines drug <br /> 23 and alcohol use and abuse issues to be addressed by break-out committees. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Cavanaugh reported on his attendance at the ACTION board meeting which is planning <br /> 26 fundraising efforts in connection with intergenerational focus groups. Mayor Ranallo stated he <br /> 27 had received a letter from ACTION requesting a$250 donation, and the liquor manager received <br /> 28 a similar letter requesting a$150 donation. He added the City donated $2,500 in 1998 to <br /> 29 ACTION and the same amount is budgeted for 1999. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Cavanaugh stated the requested donations relate to a special fundraising effort in connection with <br /> 32 the health coalition, and ACTION would appreciate the expedience of available funding. <br /> 33 Ranallo asked whether the amount could be approved in advance of January 1, 1999 for inclusion <br /> 34 in the 1999 budget. Mike Morrison, City Manager, stated the amount should be approved in <br /> 35 1999 for audit purposes. Ranallo stated the group could be made aware that the donation is <br /> 36 forthcoming in 1999. <br /> Cavanaugh asked whether the budgeted amount could be increased. Ranallo stated an increase in <br /> 39 the budget could be discussed at the December 7'Truth in Taxation hearing. <br />
