City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> December 7, 1998 <br /> • Page 3 <br /> 1 Cavanaugh stated the City Council meeting agendas should be broadcast on local public access <br /> 2 cable television. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Motion by Cavanaugh, second by Thuesen to-broadcast City Council meeting agendas on cable <br /> 5 television. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> a <br /> 9 Thuesen stated his intention to attend the St. Anthony/New Brighton Chemical Health Coalition <br /> 10 meeting on December 14, 1998. He added his wish that the information presented-will assist in <br /> 11 the implementation of underage alcohol and drug use awareness and prevention programs. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Thuesen expressed his thanks and congratulations to Katherine Ayers, Fire Chief Johnson, and <br /> 14 all involved in the Honduras relief effort. He stated the project brought people of all ages <br /> 15 together in an excellent example of community involvement. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 B. Mayor. <br /> 1e Ranallo reminded the Council of an upcoming brunch at Autumn Woods on Sunday, December <br /> 19 15, 1998 at 11:00 A.M. He added the brunch should be posted. <br /> 40, Ranallo reported on a recent meeting with the Cable Commission with regard to changing the <br /> P g <br /> 22 cable provider's mission. He stated the original mission and charge were initiated over 15 years <br /> 23 ago and were in need of updating. He added at the meeting it was agreed that City employees <br /> 24 and Councilmembers were not providing the necessary information to the cable company. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 He stated a committee was established to review this situation and as an attempt to promote <br /> 27 school involvement in the process, school board members from Irondale and Roseville High <br /> 28 Schools are being asked to join this committee. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Ranallo stated an annual event is being planned which will involve Councilmembers and School <br /> 31 Board members from all 10 cities, and will include a presentation by the staff of Channel 15. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Marks stated December 6, 1998 marks the 81st anniversary of the independence of Finland <br /> 34 which was declared in 1917. Ranallo requested they be included on the City's newsletter mailing <br /> 35 list for future mailings,as well as receive copies of previous issues. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 C. City Manager. <br /> 38 Mornson stated the City had received 2 applications for the 2 Planning Commission positions to <br /> 39 replace the Commissioners whose terms end on December 31, 1998. He added the deadline for <br /> 40 applications was Friday, December 4, 1998. <br /> *2 Mornson stated the Council would interview the 2 applicants from 6:30-7:00 P.M. on December <br /> 43 16, 1998 for potential appointment at the Regular Council meeting that night. <br /> 44 <br />
