City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> December 16, 1998 ` <br /> Page 6 <br /> 1 Mornson stated he would like to schedule that topic for the February work session which is <br /> 2 typically a light session. <br /> 3 Faust suggested the Council talk exclusively about Y2K at that workshop and that the <br /> 4 department heads be present. Faust stated that involvement of residents would follow based on a <br /> 5 plan that is devised by the Council. <br /> 6 Mornson stated they will also publish articles on this topic in the City's newsletter. <br /> 7 Ranallo commented on the importance.of becoming knowledgeable with Y2K issues and <br /> 8 meeting with knowledgeable people so they can attend the meeting and answer questions that are <br /> 9 raised. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 VIII. PUBLIC HEARINGS-None. <br /> 12 IX. NEW BUSINESS. <br /> 13 A. Appoint Planning Commissioners. <br /> 14 Ranallo noted that both Todd J. Hanson and Randy Stille were interviewed prior to the meeting <br /> • tonight and there are two openings on the Planning Commission. <br /> 16 Motion by Marks, second by Cavanaugh to appoint Todd J. Hanson, 3721 Foss Road, and Randy <br /> 17 Stille, 3117 Rankin Road NE,to the Planning Commission for full three-year terms. <br /> 18 Ranallo commented that these are two excellent candidates that will bring new views to the <br /> 19 Planning Commission. <br /> 20 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 21 B. Resolution 98-083,re: City Manager's 1999 salary; - <br /> 22 Motion by Faust, second by Marks to adopt Resolution 98-083, approving 1999 salary of <br /> 23 Michael J. Morrison, St. Anthony City Manager. <br /> 24 Cavanaugh noted the format established for evaluating the City Manager and stated his support <br /> 25 for the format suggested by Faust since it allows a measurement against something specific. He <br /> 26 commented that Thuesen worked hard on that process and he believes a process that is consistent <br /> 27 needs to be considered. <br /> 28 Faust suggested that the Council come up with a format that is standardized. <br /> Thuesen stated that he supports a process which will allow the ability to review issues such as <br /> performance. He stated the Council needs to discuss their objectives and areas they feel are <br /> 31 important. He suggested it be further discussed at the retreat. <br />
