City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> January 12, 1999 <br /> Page 5 <br /> 1 Faust stated the percentage is actually dramatically higher than 40%but the article did not <br /> 2 indicate as such. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Thuesen commended Public Works Director Jay Hartman and his staff for their hard work and <br /> 5 excellent efforts with regard to snow removal over the past few weeks. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Thuesen recommended that a liaison arrangement with the Parks Commission might be <br /> 8 considered as well as the Planning Commission. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 D. Mayor. <br /> 11 Mayor Ranallo reported on a recent Community Education meeting regarding a level 3 sex <br /> 12 offender residing in the City which was attended by over 500 residents. He commended the <br /> 13 Police Department for their consistently excellent efforts. He added the meeting kicks off the <br /> 14 City's crime prevention efforts, which include the Neighborhood Crime Watch Program, in <br /> 15 which he encouraged residents to become involved. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Ranallo stated 1 new police officer has been hired and is currently in field training, and another <br /> officer is soon to be hired. He added the City also plans to hire 2 Community Service Officers. <br /> 20 Ranallo welcomed Larry Hamer, retired Public Works Director, to the meeting. He thanked Mr. <br /> 21 Hamer for his interest and attendance. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 E.' City Manager. <br /> 24 Mornson stated he met recently with Richard Krier, planning consultant for the St. Anthony <br /> 25 Shopping Center redevelopment project. He added Mr. Krier is currently working on a proposal <br /> 26 to develop a land use plan which he hopes to present to the Council on either January 26, 1999 or <br /> 27 February 9, 1999. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Mornson stated he has been working with Todd Hubmer, WSB, Inc., on plans to reintroduce a <br /> 30 resolution on the flood grant program in 1999, which proved to be very successful in 1998, and <br /> 31 would potentially reestablish funds for flood relief. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Mornson stated that he had been notified by the Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce of their <br /> 34 annual meeting to be held April 22, 1999. Ranallo stated the Chamber of Commerce plans to <br /> 35 hold a chili contest in the first part of March. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 VIII. PUBLIC HEARINGS -None. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 IX.
