City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> September 14, 1999 <br /> • Page 5 <br /> 1 Ranallo mentioned that some residents are having problems with cable t.v. or the cable system. <br /> 2 The Cable Company is upgrading the system,but Ranallo suggested that if residents continue to <br /> 3 have difficulties, a telephone number is available (651-482-1261). <br /> 4 <br /> 5 Ranallo reviewed for the Council that last summer,the City videotaped a mock drunk-driving <br /> 6 course along with the police and fire departments. Many volunteers were involved and the <br /> 7 project was a success. The tape was submitted to the National Association of <br /> 8 Telecommunications and was then selected to be presented in Atlanta this month. Ranallo stated <br /> 9 that it is possible that the City will win an award for the videotape. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Ranallo reminded the Council and residents that November 2, 1999 is Election Day. The City. <br /> 12 has been approached by the local cable company to use the Council Chambers for coverage of <br /> 13 election results. Ranallo mentioned that two years ago the City had agreed to this request and it <br /> 14 was a success. The City Council has a Work Session meeting that evening, but a partition could <br /> 15 be placed in the room. The Cable Company is searching for at least three locations for coverage <br /> 16 of election results, and would like St. Anthony to be one of the locations. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Faust thought it was as good idea to allow the Cable Company access for election results. <br /> is Ranallo clarified that coverage would be about 8:30 p.m. live from St. Anthony City Hall and. <br /> 20 would cover all the election results. <br /> 21 Motion by Marks, second by Faust, to direct the City Manager to arrange for the Cable Company <br /> 22 to utilize the facilities in St. Anthony for election results coverage. <br /> 23 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 24 Ranallo mentioned that "Candidate's Night" will be held on October 25, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. in <br /> 25 Council Chambers. The purpose is to allow candidates an opportunity to answer questions from <br /> 26 the community. There are three candidates for School Board; five candidates for City Council; <br /> 27 and two candidates for Mayor. The evening will be broadcast live on both Channels 15 and 16. <br /> 28 Ranallo wished to comment on the possible disbanding of the St. Anthony Shopping Center Mer- <br /> 29 chants Association. He stated that the Association has had problems in the past with <br /> 30 participation and that there was a general consensus that the Association should consider <br /> 31 disbanding. <br /> 32 D. Cily Manager. <br /> 33 City Manager Mike Mornson stated that meetings are continuing with the new owners of the <br /> Town& Country site to finalize the Conditional Use Permit granted by the City and to create an <br /> agreement to ensure the conditions are met. <br />
