A proposal will be presented at one of
the October meetings.

** Momson mentioned that Staff had put in-many hours regarding the proposed Hillcrest
Development project for Apache Plaza, but that he has been encouraged by the Council's
vote to proceed to the next step regarding the old Apache Plaza site.

Sparks reported a successful opening of the skateboard park. She wanted to thank the
Council, on behalf of the residents, for the park and expressed the residents' enthusiasm.

Sparks encouraged everyone to attend the Community Concert, which is Thursday, Sep-
tember 28, 2000.

Furthermore, Sparks reported that she'had attended a meeting with high school students
to learn about target market(which is a youth initiative to use the funds that were gar-
nered against the tobacco companies)to reduce tobacco consumption by kids 30%over
the next five years.

Thuesen reported that he wished to thank City Manager.Morrison for looking into the
crosswalk issue. He noted that the last St. Anthony Bulletin had an article about that cross
walk, and he viewed that as a serious issue.

Thuesen noted that as the City proceeds with more projects, he wished to note that he
feels that the City has so many energies in other areas, that he hopes that the City can de-
vote some time and'energy into making<the Apache Plaza area more attractive and use-
able.

Horst noted that on Saturday, he would be closing his Hardware Store in the St. Anthony
Shopping Center. He noted.how difficult it was for him to make this decision, but he
wanted to thank the peopleofthe City for supporting him and he hopes that the Council
will take a look at what is happening at the Shopping Center.

Cavanaugh noted his sadness at the closing of the hardware store and that it would be
missed. Thuesen noted that he always has appreciated the quality of the inventory of the
store, and the personal service received. He felt it is a tremendous loss to the Village.
