Regular Council Meeting
February 26, 1991
page 6
1 He has received a large volume of information regarding how volunteer •
2 help is used in Sun City, Arizona. It is filled with projects which
operate strictly on volunteer services and felt some of these projects
4 may be a consideration for St. Anthony.
5 The Mayor requested an article in the City newsletter be included in
the next edition stating how the funding cutbacks expected from the
R State may impact the City.
10 Mayor Ranallo attended a morning work session of the St. Anthony
11 Chamber of Commerce which was a planning session for the organization
12 to seek new goals. He felt it would be helpful if the Chamber formed
13 a liaison with the Bulletin so the work of the Chamber and its need
i4 for new members would be available to the entire community.
15
16 C. City Manager Report
17 '
18 1 . Date for Dedication of the G.A.C. Facility
19 The City Manager advised he has not yet accepted the facility on behalf
20 of the City. The Pollution Control Agency had suggested the date of
21 April 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. as the date and the time for the
22 dedication. The City Manager felt a Saturday morning may be more
23 appropriate as this would be more convenient for residents to attend.
24 The PCA felt an evening- dedication would draw more political people.
25
26 He noted that the engineering firm for this project would supply the
27 food and had indicated a willingness to supply commemorative glasses
28 for the groundbreaking.
29
30 Suggested speakers for this event were Congressman Sabo, local elected
31 officials and representatives of the EPA Commission.
32
33 2. Tax Information
34 The City Manager distributed copies of examples of tax statements for
35 property taxes. These examples contained no specific addresses. Each
36 example addressed the distribution of a property tax dollar. He noted
37 that the State is retaining those funds realized from the sales tax
38 rather than using it for property tax relief which was its purpose
39 when it was instituted.
40
41 Councilmember Enrooth requested a fact sheet be prepared for the Board
42 of Review which would contain all of those persons to be contacted by
43 property owners regarding the anticipated increase in property taxes.
44 He also felt their phone numbers should be on the fact sheet.
6
46 Mayor Ranallo agreed that residents should have the fact sheets as their
47 opinions should be expressed to the appropriate people and representatives
48 as soon .as possible. He felt if the City Hall staff and members of the
49 City Council receive many calls regarding property taxes the Council
50 should consider having a "Town .Hall Meeting" to discuss these concerns.
