Council Reports
16
17 1 . Councilmember Enrooth
18 Councilmember Enrooth had nothing to report at this time. '
19
20 2. Councilmember Marks
21 Councilmember Marks noted he had attended the most recent Planning
22 Commission meeting to view his "students". He arrived after all of the
23 agenda of the Commission was completed.
24
25 Councilmember Marks stated he had attended a number of meetings which
• 26 addressed the City Orchestra's upcoming trip to Salo, Finland. Salo,
27 Finland is the Sister City of the City of St. Anthony.
28
29 Councilmember Marks observed that the City Council has no policy which
30 addresses its relationship with a Sister City. He felt a Sister City
31 Committee should be established and suggested it have representatives
32 of the School District, City Council , the City Orchestra, churches in
33 the community, and community organizations represented on the Committee.
34 He felt this Committee would be necessary to give the Sister City Program
35 some direction and make it a viable organization similar to what has been
36 put in place for the Historical Society.
37
38 Councilmember Enrooth recalled that former Mayor Sundland had done all of
39 the organizing for the Sister City Program and was the entire "committee."
40
41 The Mayor requested the City Manager to do some research on the Sister City
42 Program and pursue a specific agenda on this matter. He suggested that
43 the Orchestra may be interested in hosting and sponsoring some cultural
44 event in the spring which would focus on a Finnish-oriented theme.
6
46 3• Councilmember Fleming
47 Councilmember Fleming had nothing to report at this time.
48
49 4.
