aioffla
thou
e
DATE : APPROVAL. :
March 7, 1991
TO : Thomas D. Burt, City Manager
FROM : Susan VanderHeyden, Assistant to the City Manager
=TEM : HEPATITIS B IMMUNIZATION
ITEM: HEPATITIS B IMMUNIZATIONS
Background: A new State OSHA regulation requires that employers provide Hepatitis B
vaccinations to identified "at risk" employees. St. Anthony identified the "at
risk" employees as follows:
police officers - full time and reserve
firefighters - full time and reserve
public works personnel
St. Anthony is participating with a number of other metropolitan area cities
so as to reduce costs. The City of Bloomington Health Department will order
the appropriate amount of vaccine and various dates, times and locations for
vaccination clinics will be established so as to make it as easy as possible for
employees to obtain the immunizations.
Because of the large number of cities participating, the City of Bloomington
is requiring a hold harmless agreement be executed by each participating city
and that all requested vaccinations be pre-paid.
Action: City Council approval of the attached agreement as well as approval of
prepayment for the vaccinations. St. Anthony has 38 employees requesting to
be vaccinated. Each vaccination series is $140.00, resulting in a total cost of
$5320.
