She said residents were very receptive to the Task Force <br /> 2 members and indicated that most of the City has been covered. She <br /> 3 informed those present that the number of hours library employees work <br /> 4 has been increased. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Mayor Ranallo had previously written to the new library director, <br /> 7 Charles Brown who responded to the Mayor's letter by saying he <br /> 8 (Brown) is in the process of planning future meetings and will forward <br /> 9 the schedule to Ranallo as soon as it is completed. Mr. Brown also will <br /> 10 meet with the Friends of the Library on September 15th. <br /> 11 Councilmember Wagner said that the library director had attended the <br /> 12 Apache Merchants meeting and Makowske added that the new director <br /> 13 had also attended the St. Anthony Shopping Center merchants meeting. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Mrs. Makowske indicated her block will observe National Night Out on <br /> 16 Tuesday, August 2nd. The Mayor said that there are ten blocks in St. <br /> 17 Anthony doing the same, i.e., Fordham, 39th Avenue N.E., Rankin <br /> 18 Road, Hilldale, St. Anthony Boulevard, and others. <br /> 19 • <br /> 20 Mayor Ranallo thanked Mrs. Makowske and told the audience and other <br /> 21 Councilmembers that he will attend the Hennepin County Fair in <br /> 22 Corcoran where he has entered the milking contest. Last year he came <br /> 23 in 2nd place and was aiming for 1st place this year. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 B. Councilmembers. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Councilmember Wagner indicated he had tried to reach the architect for the <br /> 28 proposed City Hall/Community Center but had been unable to do so. Wagner <br /> 29 would like to schedule a meeting some time this week. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Councilmember Fleming had nothing to report at this time. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Councilmember Marks further described Telle Lassooy-Laura's visit, saying she <br /> 34 stayed with Village residents and that the St. Anthony Civic Orchestra gave a <br /> 35 concert for her the last night she was in the City. Marks said the past City <br /> 36 Manager of Salo may someday be Prime Minister of Finland. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Marks distributed a handout about the Saarinen family, from Salo, who plan to <br /> 39 visit St. Anthony the first part of August. The family's itinerary includes a trip <br /> 40 to Ely, Minnesota and Marks asked if they can be given a tour of St. Anthony • <br /> 41 on August 9th by City staff.
