City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • July 26, 1994 <br /> Page 3 <br /> 1 The typewritten report was included in the agenda packets and contained <br /> 2 a summary of the findings and recommendations of the Task Force. The <br /> 3 Task Force identified 19 properties in different areas of the City which <br /> 4 they felt needed development and/or redevelopment. Of these 19, they <br /> 5 chose the 10 most important properties. The report contained a map <br /> 6 indicating these top ten and a brief list of 23 properties in order of <br /> 7 importance, listing the size, zoning, market value, tax paid and other <br /> 8 information about each parcel. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 Bjorklund stressed that the members of the Task Force added to their <br /> 11 recommendations that they would be available for an indefinite period of <br /> 12 time to perform additional studies of this type and to defend their <br /> 13 recommendations and suggestions, when necessary. Mr. Bjorklund <br /> 14 added that the Task Force recommended "the use of public funds <br /> 15 wherever feasible or practical to encourage the prompt redevelopment of <br /> 16 under-utilized and underdeveloped properties." <br /> 17 <br /> 18 2. Proclamation for Sister City. Motion by Marks, second by Enrooth to <br /> approve the Proclamation declaring August 9, 1994 as Salo, Finland Day <br /> in the City of St. Anthony. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 Motion carried unanimously,. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Councilmember Marks spoke about the visit of Tallervo Lassooy-Laura <br /> 25 who is from St. Anthony's Sister City-of Salo, Finland. She had asked <br /> 26 the Councilmember to present the Mayor with a new Salo flag for the <br /> 27 display case located in the entrance.to City Hall. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Councilmember Marks also reminded the Councilmembers that other <br /> 30 visitors from Salo will arrive about July 30th and stay through August <br /> 31 12th. The family of Arto Saarinen, who is the President of the State <br /> 32 Bank in Salo, will receive a tour of the City and a dinner on August 9th, <br /> 33 followed by Mr. Saarinen's attendance at the Council's meeting that <br /> 34 evening. Mr. Saarinen will be presented a plaque of the Proclamation <br /> 35 approved by the Council this evening. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 3. Report on the St. Anthony Library Task Force. Judy Makowske was <br /> 38 present to report on the Library Task Force. Makowske said they have <br /> 39 been distributing leaflets to residents with a library card form, a <br /> schedule of the library's summer events and other information about the <br /> library.
