Braun also recommended that <br /> air samples be obtained to determine compliance with Indoor air standards for asbestos. <br /> Asbestos Survey Report.Buildings Associated with the Apache Plaza Property(August 1,1995): <br /> All of the other facilities outside the main mail building were assessed to determine the existence, <br /> condition,friability,accesslblllty,and potential for disturbance of asbestos containing materials. <br /> Included In this study were the Apache New Market Plaza,Taco Bell,Tires Plus,First Bank,and <br /> former Health Club buildings. Asbestos containing products in varying conditions were identified In <br /> the Apache New Market Plaza,Tires Plus,and former Health Club buildings. <br /> All asbestos materials will be removed from the buildings demolished during redevelopment <br /> excluding Category l non-friable materials. The MPCA and U.S.Environmental Protection Agency <br /> (EPA)will be notified prior to building demolition,all activities will be conducted by licensed <br /> contractors,and all applicable rules and regulations will be followed. <br /> (4) Apparent Former Farmstead: As Indicated in the Phase 1 ESA,a farmstead was located on the site <br /> prior to 1961. Braun did not encounter any evidence of wells,septic systems,and/or USTs,but <br /> recommend any of these systems be properly abandoned if encountered during site redevelopment. <br /> (5) Electrical Transformers: Two electrical transformers containing 50 percent PCBs in the cooling <br /> fluid were observed in the main mall building. No leaks or spills were observed. These materials <br /> will be removed and disposed of approprlately during site redevelopment. <br /> (6) Don's Apache Autowash Leaksite: An Amoco Service Station was formerly located west of the New <br /> Market building on the Autowash site:.Petroleum contamination from a leaking UST was first <br /> detected In 1983(MPCA Leaksite 0000246)and groundwater monitoring results Indicate that <br /> petroleum product is present In the groundwater,which flows easterly toward the New Market <br /> building. The Ste.Marie Company received a letter of"no association"on June 9,1995 from the <br /> MPCA VPIC staff for this off-site source of groundwater contamination. The Ste.Marie Company Is <br /> not a responsible party as defined in Minn.Stat.§I I6C.021 (1992). <br /> 10.
