Mayor Ranallo asked if entire City would be studied. <br /> 2 Mr. Hubmer stated the entire City would be studied and all digital work done on the <br /> -3 computer would be compatible with any GIS System. <br /> 4 Mr. Willenbring noted a cad-generated base map of the City will be prepared. This <br /> 5 will be a full color map which can be reproduced at any scale. <br /> 6 Marks noted a model was developed a year ago for the southern part of the City and <br /> 7 asked if that model would be utilized. <br /> 8 Mr. Hubmer stated the data gathering procedure will confirm what has been done in <br /> 9 the past and utilize the information gathered. <br /> 10 Marks questioned if the study would determine the impact of the water at Apache <br /> 11 Plaza being ponded rather than flowing into Silver Lake. Mr. Willenbring stated this <br /> 12 could be investigated but may be more of an estimate due to evaporation, etc. <br /> 13 City Council thanked Mr. Willenbring and Mr. Hubmer. <br /> 14 2. Preliminary Status Report of 1996 Police Activity and Audio and Furniture • <br /> 15 Issues. <br /> 16 Police Chief Engstrom reported Part I Crimes in St. Anthony had reduced in 1996 in <br /> 17 comparison to 1995. The biggest reductions were in burglary (a reduction of 19) and <br /> 18 larceny (a reduction of 47). In regard to Part II Crimes other assaults increased by 1 <br /> 19 and vandalism decreased by 15 in 1996. Calls for service and report incidents <br /> 20 remained about the same. Police reserves worked 2740 hours in 1996. Patrol statistics <br /> 21 were relatively unchanged in 1996 with the exception of a decrease in traffic arrests. <br /> 22 Engstrom noted in 1996 overall crime in the United States has decreased and he <br /> 23 believed this was due to the crime prevention efforts of the police departments. <br /> 24 Engstrom predicted there will be a vast change in the statistics next year due to the <br /> 25 CUB Foods Store and the Apache Plaza expansion. He noted the traffic patterns are <br /> 26 already changing and there will be an increase in the larceny counts. <br /> .27 Mayor Ranallo commended the police reserves and police department for a job well <br /> 28 done. He encouraged members of the police department to attend the appreciation <br /> 29 dinner. <br /> 30 Engstrom reported the police department was in need of some furniture. Three <br /> 31 lieutenants offices do not have filing cabinets. The line up and interrogation room are <br /> 32 not complete and Jackie's workstation is not yet complete. When the squad room was <br /> 33 first evaluated, it was determined that cubical furniture with smaller desks be utilized • <br /> 34 so as the officers could write their reports or use the telephone without being <br /> 35 disturbed.
