PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> i <br /> )2 Conditional Approval Recommended for Bonaventura Malt Shop/Video Arcade <br /> 3 in Vacant Apache Space <br /> 4 At 7 : 55 P.M. , Chair Wagner opened the hearing on the above request by <br /> 5 reading aloud the notice of the hearing which had been published in <br /> 6 the April 6th Bulletin and sent to all property owners of record <br /> 7 within 350 feet of the subject property. No one present reported <br /> 8 failure to receive the notice or objected to its content. <br /> 9 Permit from Michael Bonaventura, 3120 Rankin Road, for permission <br /> 10 applica- to open a "youth oriented malt shop and arcade with tobacco, <br /> 11 tion: alcohol, chemical free environment which would feature numer- <br /> 12 ous activities to attract adolescents and young adults and <br /> 13 provide a healthy, positive recreational climate for them <br /> 14 and affirm their value to the community" ; <br /> 15 for which the 34 amusement devices licenses held by Apache <br /> 16 management would be utilized in the 3 ,500 square foot space <br /> 17 which would include an office, two pool tables and a 24 X <br /> 18 12 foot dance floor to the rear; <br /> under which at first packaged/microwave sandwiches would be <br /> sold with plans to add a grill later, if the sales warranted; <br /> .included a Wurlitizer juke box which could be controlled from <br /> ,22 the office would provide atmosphere music and music for <br /> 23 dancing. <br /> 24 Staff Childs summarized much of the information he had provided in <br /> 25 report: his April 15th memorandum including the conditions he would <br /> 26 recommend be established for granting the permit; <br /> 27 had included for Commission reference copies of the portions <br /> 28 of the September 15, 1987 Commission and September 22 , 1987 <br /> 29 Council minutes which reported City reaction to a request to <br /> 30 open a similar operation next to the Apache Wells Bar within <br /> 31 the main Apache center which "might be alleviated some by <br /> 32 this building' s separation from the main mall" ; <br /> 33 had also provided copies of four letters supporting the <br /> 34 request; <br /> 35 indicated there were other letters circulating among the <br /> 36 Council; <br /> 37 reported Kenneth Lee, 3904 Penrod Lane, who was present that <br /> 38 evening, stopped in at City Hall to tell about the traffic <br /> which had been generated across residential property in <br /> .i= -1 2 <br />
