Page 3 <br /> Planning Board Minutes <br /> ' April 20, 1965 <br /> Upon motion by Springer, seconded by Emond, it was moved to recommend <br /> • that the Council approve a variance from 8 feet to 6 feet on the side <br /> yard requirement on the S. 81 feet of the E. 131 feet of Lot 3, Block 20 <br /> Gardena Acres (3621 Harding Street NE) as requested by Kenneth R. Girard. <br /> The motion carried unanimously. <br /> 6. ZONING VARIATIONS <br /> Robert O'Connell presented a request for rezoning of Lot 3, <br /> Auditors Subdivision No. 377 from R-1 , single family to R-2, two family <br /> zoning. <br /> Upon motion by DiCarlo, seconded by Mesenbring, it was moved to deny the <br /> request as it would result in spot zoning which is not in keeping with <br /> the past policy of the Planning Board. <br /> The motion failed. <br /> Upon motion by Howitz, seconded by Englund, it was moved to hold a public <br /> hearing on the request on May 18, 1965 at 7030 PM. <br /> The motion carried unanimously. <br /> 7. OLD BUSINESS <br /> Upon motion by Emond, seconded by Howitz, it was moved to bring to <br /> • the attention of the Village Council the possible danger of the encroach- <br /> ment of multiple dwellings into the area of the new elementary school at <br /> Fordham Drive and Silver Lane and to recommend that the Council make the <br /> New Brighton Council aware of the St. Anthony Planning Board's concern <br /> and desire to maintain the single-family residential character of the area. <br /> The motion carried unanimously. <br /> 8. BUILDING PERMITS <br /> Upon motion by Springer, seconded by DiCarlo, it was moved to defer <br /> action on the request from Merwin Barth for approval of a revised plot <br /> plan for a multiple dwelling complex on 39th Ave. NE and Macalaster Drive <br /> for further study. <br /> The motion carried unanimously. <br /> Upon motion by Howitz, seconded by DiCarlo, it was moved to recommend <br /> that the Council approve a building permit as requested by Kenneth Benson <br /> for an addition onto the Bauer Welding and Metal Fabricating Co. building <br /> at 2908 Anthony Lane. <br /> The motion carried unanimously. <br />
